Supplied under an OEM agreement with the Japanese automaker’s Alliance partner, Renault, the new Eclipse Cross is based on the the latter firm’s all-electric Scenic. Indeed, the second-generation Eclipse Cross, which will be built at Renault’s ElectriCity Douai Plant in France, is exclusively battery-powered.

Based on the automakers’ shared CMF-EV platform, the box-fresh Eclipse Cross was unveiled in single electric-motor format. The Eclipse Cross’ rear-wheel drivetrain produces 160 kW and 300 N.m of torque.

The emissions-free compact EV’s electric motor is fed by an 87 kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt battery, which Mitsubishi says offers approximately 600 km of (WLTP) operating range on a single, full charge. The new Eclipse Cross’ electric architecture supports 22 kW AC charging and DC fast charging of up to 150 kW. A medium-range model is scheduled to be introduced in 2026.

Stepping inside, the latest generation’s cabin plays host to such items as a portrait-oriented, 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen. Running on Google software, the system incorporates an array of built-in apps, such as Google Maps. The setup also features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Music is relayed through a Harman Kardon audio system.

“Following the launch of the Outlander plug-in hybrid and the Grandis hybrid, rolling out the all-new Eclipse Cross marks a crucial step in our electrification strategy in Europe,” said Takao Kato, president and chief executive officer of Mitsubishi Motors.
